Using SMD Rework Station to Solder iPhone 7 Power IC

SMD Rework Station is an equipment needed for Soldering of IC Components or Chips and other PCB Repair. Here is Best SMD Rework Station and How to Use it for Soldering and Desoldering of IC though 858D Hot Air Rework Station.

Heat guns allow you to remove IC and replace it after thoroughly cleaning and prepping PCB— use the same station to solder new pieces onto the existing PCB.

Overview

Let's take a look at the features starting on the upper right side of the 858D hot air rework station.

Hot Air Rework Station Face

Power Switch -- The 858D (110/220V ).  Move the switch to "ON" to turn the hot-air rework station on, move the switch to "OFF" to turn the hot-air rework station off. Easy peasy.

Air Flow Grade -- You can adjust the air flow by turning the air setting knob. The LED output will display the setting air flow grade.

Temperature Range -- Output temperatures range from 100° ~ 450° Celsius. You can adjust the working temperature by turning the temperature setting knob.

Nozzles -- The 858D comes with 3x changeable hot-air nozzles. The smaller nozzle is good for focusing the hot air on smaller components. The bigger nozzle is great if you are trying to focus hot air around a big area on the board.

Wand Holder -- The unit comes with a wand holder for the hot air gun. It can be attached on either side of the hot air rework station.

How to use the Hot Air Soldering Station

1. Place the Hot Air Rework Station on the Insulated Silicone Soldering Mat. Plug the power cord into the appropriate outlet.

2.Turn on the power using the button located on the front or side panel. Set the desired temperature and air flow and wait until the device is warmed up.

3. Aim hot air flow directly onto the connection pins of soldered (or desoldered) device being careful not to touch connection pins with the nozzle.

4. After melting the solder holding device connection pins remove the device using pliers or tweezers.

5. Set the power switch to the OFF position. This will automatically turn on cooling of the heater and nozzle.

6. After some time, it will automatically power off. You can then safely unplug the power plug from the outlet.

Besides a hot-air rework station, you’ll need a few tools to rework a surface mount components on a board, such as Insulated Silicone Soldering Mat.

The tweezer type will depend on the job and personal preference. Solder Paste Flux can also help reflow solder joints.

Most heat guns have a range of nozzles that can be fitted for specific uses, and generally these need to be purchased separately.

Tips:

1. When soldering or desoldering, always try to preheat the PCB by giving heat from some height and then gradually bring down the handle of the station.

2. If you give sudden heat to the component of the PCB then other components and the PCB itself can get damaged due to thermal chock.
